Motor neuron disease, including ALS, gradually affects the nerves controlling muscles, leading to progressive weakness. Physiotherapy focuses on maintaining strength, mobility, and comfort for as long as possible while adapting care as needs change.
When to see a physiotherapist: Consult your neurologist regularly to monitor progression, and work with a physiotherapist to adapt exercise and mobility support as symptoms change.
