Clubfoot Physiotherapy Management

Clubfoot is a condition present at birth where a baby's foot turns inward and downward, making it stiff to move. Physiotherapy works alongside casting or bracing treatment to maintain flexibility and support normal walking development.

Common Symptoms

Do's

  • Follow the casting or bracing schedule exactly as prescribed
  • Practice gentle stretching exercises taught by the therapist
  • Check the brace or cast fit regularly for comfort and skin health
  • Keep up with follow-up visits to track foot alignment

Don'ts

  • Don't skip or delay brace-wearing hours once treatment begins
  • Don't attempt to adjust the cast or brace yourself
  • Don't stop therapy early even if the foot looks corrected
  • Don't ignore skin redness, swelling, or signs of discomfort under the brace

When to see a physiotherapist: See a doctor promptly if the brace or cast causes skin irritation, swelling, or if the foot appears to be reverting to its original position.
